Move to Subscription Announcement FAQs

All of Centrify's software and services (both cloud and on-premises deployments) will only be available as a subscription.
Unlike perpetual licensing where you purchase licenses up front and have a right to use your software with no end date, subscriptions are term-based (for example, annual, or multi-year). As with any subscription, if you do not renew, you lose your right to use the software and benefits provided by that subscription.
This change to subscription is effective July 1, 2018. Current customers can continue to pay maintenance on their existing perpetual licenses. However, new purchases will only be available as a subscription and will no longer be available on a perpetual basis.
More and more customers are purchasing their infrastructure and software as a service, and Centrify is aligning ourselves with the way customers are now purchasing Information Technology.
No. All of Centrify's products have been available as subscription for the last few years and those prices are not changing. However, effective July 1, perpetual licenses will no longer be available.
No, we continue to have a CSS maintenance offering available for existing customers; CSS is not End of Life and will continue to be supported. CSS has now been integrated into Centrify Infrastructure Services which is the current product package available for new purchases.

Both cloud and on-premises subscriptions include product upgrades and updates (commonly referred to as “maintenance”) as well as technical support.

If you deploy your Centrify solution as a cloud service, upgrades and updates are taken care of automatically as we update the service. For on-premises deployments, upgrades and updates are included in the subscription price and available as downloads from our support website.

For support as part of your subscription, you can choose either Standard Support or Premium Support options. See our support page for the entitlement differences between Standard and Premium Support.
Please consult your accounting department. In certain cases, you can purchase your subscription with CAPEX dollars by considering a subscription on a term-based license.

Subscriptions are available for minimum 1-year terms but can be purchased for multi-year terms.
Nothing changes, you can renew maintenance as normal on your existing perpetual licenses. However new purchases of Centrify products will only be available on a subscription basis.
When your maintenance contract is eligible for renewal you have two options:

1) Continue your maintenance contract for existing perpetual licenses for an additional term(s)
or
2) switch to subscription. See below for more information on how to switch to subscription.
If you choose to stay on maintenance for your existing perpetual licenses, you will continue to receive the benefits of that plan, including support and product updates for as long as you continue to renew (subject to end-of-life provisions in our maintenance policy). You can move to a subscription during a future renewal period if desired.
You can purchase multiple year term subscriptions which will lock in your price for the length of the term.
For deployments with a Centrify cloud tenant, if you do not renew, Centrify will disable your account within the Centrify service and will keep the data for 30 days to give you an opportunity to download your data. Should you wish to subscribe again within 30 days, you will be able to reactivate your account.

For software deployments on-premises, if you do not renew, you will no longer be entitled to use the software, you will no longer receive software upgrades or updates and will not be eligible for support services.

Note: If you choose to cancel your subscription, it is important that you to make sure that you have un-enrolled all servers and endpoints and take note of all vaulted passwords.
Centrify will contact you at least 90 days prior to your subscription renewal letting you know your renewal date is coming up.
Your Centrify quote and invoice will include which products are included under your subscription.
Yes, subscriptions are only available for on-premises deployments of Centrify Infrastructure Services solutions.
You are responsible for deploying all patches and upgrades. Updates to on-premises deployments are available for download approximately every 2 months.

Yes, you can switch your perpetual license to an on-premises subscription. Please work with your Centrify Sales Representative to coordinate the switch. The switch will require you to retire your existing perpetual licenses.
Yes, you can continue to run eligible previous versions of downloadable software under your on-premises subscription. There is no forced version upgrade as long as the version in use is still supported. However, you will be required to switch license keys. Please contact your Centrify Sales Representative.
The features offered by Centrify under the maintenance plan are the same whether available through continued maintenance or on-premises subscription.
No, if you switch licensing models from perpetual licenses to on-premises subscription there is no need to reinstall any existing software; the only change is in your contract and license keys.
