This morning, TPG Capital that it has reached a definitive agreement to purchase a majority interest in Centrify from Thoma Bravo.
As Centrify’s President and CEO for the past 8 months, it has been my privilege and honor to lead this company to its next exciting chapter. I will be stepping down once the transaction is complete, but Centrify will be in good hands as Art Gilliland takes over leadership of the company.
Art is a security and enterprise software veteran leader and former Symantec executive whose fresh perspective will be an asset to the company at this important moment in its history. I believe he is the right person to take Centrify to new heights, and I will work closely with him throughout the transition period to ensure it is smooth and he is set up for success.
While my time leading Centrify has been relatively short, it has been one that I will look back on as exciting and rewarding. Centrify was already a leader in the privileged access management space when I joined, and I believe that the company is now on a trajectory to seize upon trends in the market that will position it for even greater future success. By combining industry-leading technology with a roadmap and strategy to meet the emerging needs of our customers, Centrify is well-positioned to execute and grow its market share and make cybersecurity a true business enabler.
I’ve also enjoyed the opportunity to get to know many of Centrify’s customers, some of whom have been customers for well over 10 years and others who have only partnered with us in the past couple of months. I want to assure all of Centrify’s customers that TPG’s investment in Centrify will further strengthen the company’s strategy and execution, but most importantly that you shouldn’t see any significant changes to how Centrify serves you.
While these are still very uncertain times, I can say the following with absolute certainty: the combination of Centrify and TPG Capital is going to result in a stronger, more forward-looking technology leader that can solve the security challenges of ongoing, accelerating digital transformation. I’m proud to have been a part of this company’s journey, and will be watching closely to enjoy its success.
