The Kinkaid School Deploys Centrify to Improve Identity Management, Increase Efficiency and Secure Access for more than 1,000 Mac Users
Houston College Prep School Leverages Centrify to Easily Integrate Macs into Active Directory for Improved Workflow and Centralized Control and Management Based on Identity
April 09, 2014
SANTA CLARA, Calif. —Centrify Corporation, the leader in Unified Identity Services across data center, cloud and mobile, today announced that The Kinkaid School of Houston has deployed Centrify’s User Suite, Mac Edition to better secure, control and manage Mac access for more than 1,000 users.
The Kinkaid School is a non-sectarian college preparatory day school enrolling 1,380 boys and girls in grades prekindergarten through 12th grade. Kinkaid’s students range in age from 4 – 18 years old.
“With Centrify we quickly and easily deployed the solution to more than 800 lab machines in just minutes,” said Joshua Godden, CISSP, IT Manager, The Kinkaid School. “Before Centrify our process took days, so now we can focus on other projects. Centrify’s support team has worked tirelessly with us whenever we had an issue, which wasn’t often.”
Kinkaid had been working with Apple which recommended Centrify. One of the deciding factors was when Godden learned that Centrify integrated with JAMF Software and the Casper Suite. According to Godden, after installing the Centrify management interface and snap-in to the Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC) management tool, deployment of the Centrify agent on the Macs using JAMF was a breeze. All school-owned lab machines authenticate and receive their “group policies” through the Windows Active Directory server using the Centrify client. Joining these machines to Active Directory and leveraging Group Policy fit into their existing management environment, simplifying support for Macs, he said.
“We are pleased to be able to work with a top notch education facility such as Kinkaid, and help secure their Mac systems, enhancing their management capabilities in a faster and better manner, all with increased ROI,” said Gary Taggart, Centrify VP of Sales. “Centrify is growing its business significantly in all markets, and K-12 and higher education are top targets for us with the variety of devices in use.”
