SUNNYVALE, California — Centrify Corporation, the leader in securing and auditing access to cross-platform systems and applications through Active Directory, today announced that Canonical is distributing Centrify’s free Active Directory integration solution, Centrify Express, through its Ubuntu Software Partner Repository. By using Centrify Express, IT professionals can quickly and easily integrate Ubuntu 10.04 LTS -or Ubuntu 10.10 servers and desktops into Microsoft Active Directory for centralized authentication and single sign-on. Canonical has certified Centrify Express to meet Ubuntu’s ease of use and performance standards. Centrify is a Gold Software Partner of Canonical.
"Centrify Express is a proven, free application that enables enterprise administrators to manage user accounts centrally from Active Directory while also securing Ubuntu systems on the desktop, server and in the cloud," said Matt Asay, COO, Canonical. “We are pleased to make Centrify Express available from the Ubuntu Software Partner Repository.”
Canonical and Centrify will jointly sponsor a free webinar, “Ubuntu for the Enterprise: Five Steps to Ensure Successful Adoption” to demonstrate how organizations are enabling the broader deployment of Ubuntu by integrating it into their existing Active Directory infrastructure and management processes. By using Centrify’s Canonical-certified solution, they can go beyond simply offering transparent sign-on to Ubuntu systems and can deliver on five key requirements for enterprise deployments:
“We are pleased to partner with Canonical to secure Ubuntu desktops and servers,” said Frank Cabri, vice president of marketing for Centrify. “Our joint customers value the ability to join their Ubuntu systems with Active Directory to lower operational costs for the IT staff while providing a single sign-on experience for end users.”
Centrify Express and Centrify Suite for Ubuntu 10.4 LTS or Ubuntu 10.10 servers and desktops are available immediately. They are available in the Ubuntu Partner Repository and can be installed using a number of built-in package managers like Software Center, Synaptic, Adept, Aptitude, apt-get or others.
About Centrify Express
A subset of the comprehensive Centrify Suite, Centrify Express enables Linux and Mac OS X servers and workstations to participate in a Windows Active Directory domain and gives users Active Directory-based single sign-on. Centrify Express customers can simply use Express for free or subsequently upgrade some or all of their non-Microsoft systems to various editions of the Centrify Suite that meet their needs. Centrify Suite layers on additional capabilities such as Group Policy, role-based access control as an industrial strength replacement of sudo, privileged identity management, user-level auditing, server isolation and encryption of data-in-motion.
