Centrify DirectManage Express automates the deployment of Centrify Express by discovering your non-Microsoft systems, analyzing their readiness for integration with Active Directory, downloading and installing the correct DirectControl Express software on the systems you want, and automatically joining those systems to your Active Directory domain. And it even lets you quickly and easily access remote systems from a single console! Just download DirectManage Express and point it to your network and you can have your UNIX, Linux and Mac OS X systems joined to Active Directory in minutes. DirectManage Express is a free limited-functionality version of our Centrify DirectManage solution.
From a central console you can discovers the non-Windows systems in your environment — both on-premise or in the cloud — and generate a list that categorizes them by platform and operating system version.
To ensure the smoothest experience possible when joining the system to Active Directory, you can run a pre-installation check of patch levels, network and DNS health, port availability and more. All results from each system are centrally collected and displayed, with an at-a-glance report for each system. DirectManage Express even generates a to-do list to guide you through the process of addressing any issues found.
DirectManage Express will connect back to the Centrify website and download just the right packages you need to install on a target system, saving you the time it takes to match the Centrify DirectControl package to the machines on your network; it also ensures you always get the latest version. However, you also have the option to download the DirectControl Express packages separately and install those local copies.
DirectManage Express installs or upgrades the DirectControl Express agent and automatically joins the system to Active Directory. Once this step is complete, users will be able to authenticate to the UNIX, Linux or Mac systems right away.
DirectManage Express also provides you with a single pane of glass to quickly and remotely access any of your systems using your Active Directory credentials. Using PuTTY, VNC, RDP or WinSCP, you can access a remote machine using a stored username and password, or you can interactively enter the username and password of a local account or Active Directory account. If the machine has been joined to Active Directory using DirectControl Express (or the full-featured version of DirectControl), you can gain silent authentication via a secure, Kerberized connection. The DirectControl Express package will install our Centrify-enabled OpenSSH service on UNIX or Linux systems for you. You can also download our Centrify-enabled Windows-based PuTTY tool. (See Centrify-Enabled Open Source Tools for more information.) We even provide a courtesy download of WinSCP.
Through the DirectManage Express console, you can create, edit or delete local accounts and groups on a single system or a group of systems discovered through DirectManage Express, whether those systems have been joined to Active Directory or not. For example, you could, in a single step, change the root password on a group of systems. On systems that have been joined to Active Directory using the fully featured Centrify Suite, you can also take advantage of Centrify's patented account mapping feature, which enables you to associate a local account with an Active Directory account. This brings the local account under central management and thus enforces Active Directory password authentication and security policies on those accounts.
